Dear Mr. MacDonald,

Thank you for your quick response to our request on the use of the 7-100 casks.

On April 5 and 6, 1989, Mr. George Gardes called to review the specifics on the 7-100 casks as requested by you and provided the necessary input.

We understand that an extension of the terminated C of C (which was the NUPAC design) can not be accomplished.

However, Mr.

Gardes stated that he checked with Mr. Ross Chapel and determined that the casks can be used for the extension period under the following conditions:

1.

USE is responsible for determination that the casks meet the requirements of C of C 9080, Revision 13.

2.

USE is required to be registered with the NRC as a user of the CNS 7-100 casks.

3.

This will automatically piggyback our NUPAC casks on to the CNSI extension, which does exist.

4.

In its usage, USE must label the container based on subpart H requirements.
