Dear Mr. Slemp:
Your Quality Assurance Program A) proval No. 0437 is hereby terminated. The Nuclear Re ulatory Commission cualished a final rule. effective June 27. 1997.
revising t e requirements of 10 CFR Part 34. " Licenses for Industrial Radiography and Radiation Safety Requirements for Industrial Radiographic Operations." The revision, which contained numerous changes in the requirements, also modified the quality assurance (0A) requirements for transportation. As a result of these changes, a separate NRC OA program approval is no longer needed.
Specifically, transportation activities are now contained in a new paragraph.
10 CFR 71.101(g). This provision was added to the regulations and requires that inspection and maintenance programs limited to radiocraphic exposure devices.. source changers, or packages transportin these cevices anf '.eeting the provisions of 10 CFR Part 34.31(b). or equiva ent Agreement State regulations, satisfy the general license requirements specified in 10 CFR Part 71.12(b) for Type B transport packages.
