GENERIC ISSUE MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - THIRD QUARTER FY-88 UPDATE i
Enclosed is the Third Quarter FY-88 update of the Generic Issue Management l Control System (GIMCS) for your information. This report contains the '
following highlights:
(1) Four generic safety issues (GSIs) were resolved during the reporting period:

,B-5 (MEDIUM) Ductility of Two-Way Slabs and Shells and Buckling Behavior of Steel Containments HF8 (HIGH) Maintenance and Surveillance Program I.A.4.2(4) (HIGH) Review Simulators for Conformance (2) Four GSis were prioritized during the reporting period:
< 57 (MEDIUM) Effects of Fire Protection System Actuation on Safety-Related Equipment 125.1.3 (NEARLY-RECOLVED) SFDS Availability
-125.11.11(DROP) Recovery of Main feedwater as Alternative to AFW C-14 (DROP) Storm Surge Model for Coastal Sites Eight USIs and 50 GSIs remain to be resolved; of these, 4 USIs and 12 GSis are scheduled for resolution in FY-88 (see Table 4). Eight GSis have already slipped beyond the Five-Year Plan completion dates and their schedules cannot be remedied; however, seven of these (including 4 USls) are scheduled to be Afgh resolved by the end of FY-88 (A-3, A-4, A-5, A-29, A-48, 124, HF1.1). The F remaining issue (121) will be integrated into the Containment Performance /g Improvement (CPI) program for large, dry PWR containments. Six other GSis are ,
projected to slip beyond the completion d3tes specified in the Five-Year Plan
