Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362. ; Special Report San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station- Units 2 and 3 This. report is being submitted in acccrdance wit' lechnical Specification 3.3.3.3 for San Onofre Units 2 and o (Facility Operating Lic nses NPF-10 and NPF-15, respectively). These specifications require a Special Report within 10 days after the I seismic monitoring instrumentation has been inoperable for more than 30 days. On June 27, 1996, with both units in Mode 1 at 100% power, during routine monthly surveillance testing, steam generator base support strong motion accelerometer 2XT8020B was determined to be ' inoperable. The cause of the inoperability will not be known until local inspection is completed. 2XT8020B is inaccessible during Unit 2 power operation and will be inspected and repaired during the next Unit 2 outage of sufficient duration, subject to replacement parts availability. The other four strong motion accelerometers of the SMA-3 recording unit remain operable. . If you require any additional information, please let me know. Sincerely, h i WALTER C.
