Richmond, Virginia 23212 Re: LILCO's Further Security Arrange-ments for the Backup AC Power Sources

Dear Don:

On May 1, we received a copy of your letter of the same date to the Licensing Board. In this letter, you notified the Board and parties that, although LILCO had indicated at the April 17 Conference of Counsel that it intended to modify further its proposed security arrangements for the backup power sources at Shoreham by the end of April, completion of the materials describing the modifications had encountered "short-term logistic delays." We were advises that, as a result of these delays, LILCO would probably not be able to serve the materials.until early in the week of May 6.

As I informed Bob Rolfe ef your office by phone on May 1, LILCO's delay in serving its further modifications to the security arrangements for the EMDs and gas turbine would have an effect on our ability to coordinate with our consultants, given that they have busy schedules of their own. This, in turn, might hamper our ability to respond promptly to LILCO's delayed

. filings. Therefore, I request that you immediately notify the Board and parties regarding when LILCO intends to file its security modifications. Thereafter, we will have to contact our 8505140230 950507 PDR C ADOCK 05000322 PDR I
