Dear Chairman Meserve,

It has recently come to my attention that an organization known as Righteous Through Christ Ministries has proposed the establishment of a private use airport in Glen Rose, Texas. This airport, which would include an 8,400 foot runway, would be sited just 6,000 feet from the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant.

With current restrictions on aircraft operations near nuclear power facilities, common sense would seem to dictate that the proposed location of this airport would not be desirable.

Additionally, the September 11 attacks demonstrated the vulnerabilities of our nation's infrastructure to attack by aircraft.

I am writing to urge you to investigate this situation and determine whether the proposed airport in Glen Rose is consistent with the security requirements of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant. It is my understanding that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently accepting feedback on this proposed facility, and I would encourage you to share your findings with the FAA so that they can weigh the national security concerns raised by the construction of an airport within a mile of a nuclear facility.
