Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 2  :

Correction of Human Enaineerina Discreoancies In a letter dated September 30, 1986,II) Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNECO) submitted to the NRC Staff the Summary Report for Control Room Design .

Included in the Summary Report was a i Review (CRDR) for Millstone Unit No. 2.

schedule for HED resolution.

This revised schedule did not affect the overall commitment to complete all of '

the HED corrections by the end of the Cycle 10 refueling outage (scheduled for 1990), nor did it reduce the number of HEDs or alter their disposition.  ;

In a letter dated May 18, 1988,(3) NNECO informed the Staff that the first phase' enhancements and corrections of the program to correct HEDs were complete. In addition, NNECO committed to have all revisions to Operations

! Procedures completed by December 31, 1988. Due to extensive expenditures of

-engineering manhours on other safety related tasks, these revisions were not ,

put in place as we had anticipated. Current schedules call for this task to oe complete by October 31, 1989.

The second phase enhancements and corrections of the program were completed l during the 1989 outage. These included modifications to control room panels  :

(1) J. F. Opeka letter to A. C. Thadani, " Control Room Design Review Summary Report," dated September 30, 1986.

(2) E. J. Mroczka letter to U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, " Control Room Design Review Addendum Report," dated July 31, 1987.

(3) E. J. Mroczka letter to U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, " Correction l

of Human Engineering Discrepancies," dated May 18, 1988.

CO2, C03, C04, and C05. The remaining work involves replacement of control room panel C06 (horizontal section), completion of the annunciator modifica-tions and some miscellaneous control room changes. As scheduled, all the outstanding HEDs will be completed by the end of the Cycle 10 refueling outage with the exception of the Steam Generator Wide Range Level Indication (HED TA-032).

The precise met'.od of resolution has not yet been determined, but due to the ,

relationship wi a the possible replacement of the steam generators at ,

Millstone Unit 2, resolution of tg'p HED was rescheduled for the end of the Cycle 11 re d m'g outage in 1992.  ;
