Date: Thursday, January 24, 2019 11:39:00 AM By letter dated December 17, 2018 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML18352A227), Exelon Generation Company, LLC (the licensee) submitted relief requests (RRs) associated with the Inservice Testing (IST) Program for the Limerick Generating Station (Limerick), Units 1 and 2, for the Fourth Ten-Year IST interval, which is currently scheduled to begin on January 8, 2020.

• RR-1: Pressure Isolation Valve Leakage Test Frequency GVRR Fourth Ten-Year IST interval (EPID L-2018-LLR-0384);

• RR-2: ESW Pump Test Using Pump Curves - Fourth Ten-Year IST interval (EPID L-2018-LLR-0385);

• RR-3: Pump Flow Instrumentation 90-PRR Fourth Ten-Year IST interval (EPID L-2018-LLR-0386); and

• RR-4: Control Rod Drive Scram Valves 47-VRR Fourth Ten-Year IST interval (EPID L-2018-LLR-0387).

Relief is requested pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 50.55a(z)(1).

The basis of the request is that the proposed alternative would provide an acceptable level of quality and safety.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has reviewed your application and concluded that it does provide technical information in sufficient detail to enable the NRC staff to complete its detailed technical review and make an assessment regarding the acceptability of the proposed amendment in terms of regulatory requirements and the protection of public health and safety and the environment. Given the lesser scope and depth of the acceptance review, as compared to the detailed technical review, there may be instances in which issues that impact the NRC staffs ability to complete the detailed technical review are identified, despite completion of an adequate acceptance review. If additional information is needed, you will be advised by separate correspondence.

Based on the information provided in your submittal, the NRC staff has estimated that RR-1, RR-2, RR-3, and RR-4 will take approximately 120 hours0.00139 days <br />0.0333 hours <br />1.984127e-4 weeks <br />4.566e-5 months <br /> for each RR to complete. The NRC staff expects to complete this review in approximately 12 months (December 2019). If there are emergent complexities or challenges in our review that would cause changes to the initial forecasted completion date or significant changes in the forecasted hours, the reasons for the changes, along with the new estimates, will be communicated during the routine interactions with the assigned project manager.

These estimates are based on the NRC staffs initial review of the application, and they could change, due to several factors, including requests for additional information, unanticipated addition of scope to the review, and review by NRC advisory committees or hearing-related activities.
