101 Marietta Street Atlanta, GA 30303 BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT UNIT NOS. 1 & 2 LICENSE NOS. DPR-71 AND DPR-62 DOCKET NOS. 50-325 AND 50-324 30-DAY NON-ROUTINE RADIOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENTAL EVENT REPORT

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

Results of gross beta analysis (weighted analysis) of weekly air particulate samples collected on February 22, 1980, and February 25, 1980, as part of the Brunswick Stean Electric Plant's Environmental Radiological Monitoring Program, detected gross beta activity at the concentration of 4.60 1 0.19 E-1 pC1/m3 at air particulate sampling station 23 (PMAC). At station 22 (control station) the gross beta concen-tration was 3.27 1 0.44 E-2 pCi/m3 The gross beta concentration found in the sample constitutes a 30-day reportable event in accordance with the Brunswick Technical Speci-fications, Appendix B, Section 5.4.2b, pertinent to environmental sampling. A compu-tational error in the original calculation, discovered on December 5,1980, is respon-sible for the notification delay. Other environmental analyses and corrective actions were previously reported to the Region II office. (Reference letter to Mr. J. P.

O'Reilly, Director, Region II office, dated April 22, 1980. Serial No. BSEP 80-691.)

Very uly yours, A. C. Tolli on, Jr., General Manager Brunswick Steam Electric Plant AHC/ mew cc: Mr. R. A. Hartfield -
