, During routine fish impingement monitoring 2/13/75., using procedure 1607.10, Monitoring Fish Impinge'd on ANu-1 Intake Screens, 5110 pounds of fish were collected during two 8-hour sample periods. Fish impinged on the intake screens between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. 2/12/75 totaled 3995 pounds. F,ish impinged on the intake screens between 12:00 a.m. ~;'

and 8:00 a.m. 2/13/75 totaled 1115 pounds. The projected fish impinge-ment for the 24-hour period beginning at 8:00 a.m. 2/12/75 and ending at 8:00 a.m. 2/13/75 was 7665 pounds based on the' hourly average of the ,

two 8-hour samples. A mixture of gizzard and threadfin shad made up -l 99.9% of the. total weight of fish. Other fish made up' O.1% of the j

total weight. Threadfin shad made up 86% of the total number of shad. -

Temperatures taken at 8:00 a.m. 2/13/75 were: intake water temperature -

The apparent cause was due to a natural die off of threadfin shad during the winter season. ,

9. Analysis of Occurrence:

g _,) The only noticeable environmental impact was the removal of the above -

mentioned fish from the lake. The fish that were' collected were dis-

posed of through land fill operation. The. fish that were not collected

,

were disposed of through the trash disposal system.

Long term studies are in progress to determine the effects of plant operation on the aquatic ecosystems of the Dardanelle Reservoir. Data from this report and other data obtained is fed back into these studies to determine what. changes might be made to the studies in order to ,

ensure that adequate data is obtained for evaluating plant impact.

Review by Arkansas Power 5 Light Company and its consultants of the '

results of these studies will determine what corrective action might '

be taken to reduce plant effects on the Reservoir.
