'CD I'm writing to voice my deep concern about Entergy's proposed power uprat Yankee. As a Brattleboro resident living six miles from the plant, I worry out the radiation emitted by this 33-year-old facility which endangers our health; the nuclear waste it generates and stores on-site, which will be a burden for generations to come; and the very real possibility of an accident or terrorist attack, with the human death and environmental destruction that would result. There is no effective evacuation plan. Increasing the power output of this aging reactor by 20% would only increase the already unacceptable risk we face. To expose us to this risk for the sake of one corporation's profits is insanity. Please, at the very least, mandate an Independent Safety Assessment before ruling on the uprate.
