IPEC status report for July 11 Indian Point Energy Center Status Report Information in this record was deleted in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, exemptions, in White -JPEG status report for July 11 Page 2: July 11 2006 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% power and has been on line 54 days. Unit 3 was returned to service on Friday afternoon after a worn wire caused an electrical short, which signaled a relay device to trip the main generators.

The Unit has been on line 4 days.Ground Water Investigation

-MW 51 Results As part of the ongoing ground water investigation, Entergy has continued sampling wells installed on site. A recent sample (5/11/06) from one of the southern monitoring wells, MW-51 showed slightly elevated levels of tritium at 473 pCi/L. The result is greater than the lower limit of detection for this sample. Sample validation is underway to determine if the results are more indicative of background levels of tritium or are due to tritium contamination related to the ongoing investigation.

At very low levels of tritium there is significant uncertainty in the results due to interference from naturally occurring radioisotopes such as radon and its decay daughters in the water. This sample is being re-analyzed and adjacent wells were re-sampled on July 10.As point of comparison, the EPA drinking water standard is 20,000 pCi/L for tritium. There has been no detectable activity found in any off-site monitoring location.Educational Outreach Entergy Nuclear Northeast provides customized outreach education programs for schools, youth groups, and civic organizations.

The topics we cover include Emergency Planning, Understanding Radiation, Nuclear Fuel and a general overview of the operations of Indian Point Energy Center. If you would like a brochure or are interested in scheduling a program, contact IPEC Communications at 914-271-7441.

If you have any questions or need clarification of the information provided, please contact Kathy McMullin, manager of communications, Indian Point Energy Center, at 914-271-7132.
