River Bend Station - Units 1 & 2 '

J Refer to: RIV Docket Nos. 50-458/I&E Bulletin 79-15 50-459/I&E Bulletin 79-15 In a letter dated September 11, 1979, Gulf States Utilities Company responded to I&E Bulletin 79-15 with the information available at that time and offered to submit a supplement to that letter to conclude our response. The initial letter con-tained responses for Unit 1 to inquiries 1, 2, and 3 which addressed the number of pumps; manufacturers', capacity, and plant application; and overall dimensions of the purnps. This supplement updates the original information as noted in the attached corrected table. Since these pumps are presently stored at our site and are not yet installed, a response to inquiries 4, 5, and 6 on summarizing the startup, testing, and routine maintenance history; operational problems and major repair efforts; and stating the longest interval that each pump has been available for operation without corrective maintenance is not applicable.

At present, a decision on the status of Unit 2 will not be made until late 1980, therefore a response with regard to Unit 2 pumps is not available.

Sincerely, f4 "W%s J. G. Weigand General Manager - Nuclear Projects mbb Attachment
