Dear Ira Schnider,

I am writing to you on behalf of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regarding a licensing action for the GEH Vallecitos Boiling Water Reactor (VBWR)

Development Power Reactor located at the Vallecitos Nuclear Center near Sunol, California. The NRC is reviewing a license termination plan (LTP) for the VBWR and has developed an environmental assessment (EA) for consideration in the approval and license amendment associated with the LTP. The NRC s practice is to provide a draft version of EAs to the State for comment before finalizing.

I have attached a draft version of the EA to this email and ask that you provide comments in 30 days which is September 13, 2024. If I have incorrectly identified you as the appropriate reviewing official, I kindly ask that you direct me to the appropriate State official for review of this matter. I also ask that you respond to this email verifying receipt.
