1AAR 011985 The Honorable Jack Kemp United States House of Representatives Washington, D.C. 20515
Dear Congressman Kemp:
Thank you for your letter of January 25, 1985 concerning an unsolicited
- proposal submitted by ENSA Corporation entitled, " Study Survey of Radioisotopes Re-Concentration Within New York State Sanitary Sewage Systems and Landfills."
Our technical evaluators have evaluated ENSA's proposal and share the concerns it addresses regarding the potential for re-concentration of radionuclides in sanitary sewage treatment facilities and landfills. Our Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research is conducting an agency evaluation of potential pathways to man for radionuclides released into sewer systems. When this study is completed around the end of this fiscal year we will have a better knowledge of these pathways upon which to base future research studies. However, at the present time there is no agency funding budgeted for additional research.
We have informed ENSA of the results of our evaluation.
We hope this information will assist you. If we can provide further information, please let me know.
