During a recent audit by GSA of vendors whosell security containers, GSA noted that its regulations were not beingfollowed and instructed the vendors to stop selling containers to anyone notspecifically authorized by GSA regulations.Since NRC licensees and holders of Part 95 approvals do not fall into either ofthe classes mentioned above, special procedures are required in order for youto purchase such containers. NRC has coordinated with GSA to ensure that NRClicensees and holders of Part 95 approvals will be considered authorizedpurchasers provided they identify themselves on the procurement document as aNRC licensee and cite the regulation under which they are procuring thecontainer (10 CFR 73.21 and/or 10 CFR 95.25).This letter is for information only and does not require a response. It isexpected that recipients will review this information for applicability totheir program and consider action, if appropriate.
