Radiological Emergency Response Plan have long been active in d
the effort to develop a realistic, effective, and implementible                  I l                        emergency responce plan.

County has been written, b'ut serious, raajor flaws in the plan i

l The following lists some of the major defects,of the        ;
i emergency response plan as it effects Rockland County. The i
Radiological Emergency Response Plan would require the training of approximately 5,000 people. There are inadequate emergency equipment and supplies, and inadequate communication equipment to allow for the direction of emergency service agencies and volunteers. Traffic problems in an evacuation would be monumental, even under ideal weather conditions and even.if        ,
evacuation is accomplished, the plan doesn't provide for
              . facilities for the evacuees. The plan fails to provide          ,
adequately for the elderly, disabled, day care centers, or the ill, and numerous other " details" which are absolutely vital.
The County of Rockland hopes, through its participation in this proceeding as an interested state, to bring these problems to the forefront, and work for decisions which will          ;
ensure the safety and lives of its citizens.
