REGULATORY INFORMATION CONFERENCE 2019 SOLICITATION FOR MEMBERSHIP ON THE TECHNICAL REVIEW COMMITTEE AND THE PLANNING COMMITTEE It is time to begin initial preplanning for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) 31st Annual Regulatory Information Conference (RIC), which will take place March 12-14, 2019.

The RIC is the largest NRC meeting, and its continued success begins with effective planning.

From program content to planning and logistics, early and frequent communication, coordination, and collaboration across the offices and regions is key.

As co-sponsors of the RIC, the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research offer an opportunity to participate by designating a representative to serve on the RIC Planning Committee (PC) and one to serve on the RIC Technical Review Committee (TRC).

The PC: The PC will be established in late August. Members will participate in periodic planning meetings, discuss conference initiatives and activities, communicate important due dates and RIC-related information back to their respective offices, and track progress made or delays encountered on assigned tasks.

• Time CommitmentSix meetings are planned during the months of September through February. The meetings usually take place on Wednesdays, 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

• Staff LevelNRC staff member (non-management). Responsibilities are more administrative in nature.

Those on the Attached List The TRC: The TRC will be established in August. Members are subject matter experts who can effectively evaluate all technical topic submissions, communicate with and provide constructive feedback on submission writeups, and recommend to senior management the most suitable topics for the final program.

• Time CommitmentThree to five meetings lasting 1 to 3 hours3.472222e-5 days <br />8.333333e-4 hours <br />4.960317e-6 weeks <br />1.1415e-6 months <br /> each will take place during the months of September through November.

• Staff LevelNRC senior staff member or manager (Senior Executive Service status not required) who has broad or specific knowledge or expertise in the areas of safety, security, policy, or other various significant issues within the nuclear industry.

Responsibilities are more technical in nature.

ACTION: To help shape the program content, we request one designee to serve as a PC member and one designee to serve as a TRC member from the following offices:

• Office of New Reactors

• Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards

• Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response

• Office of International Programs

• Region I, as lead regional office for RIC 2019 We request that you provide the names of those individuals designated for the PC and the TRC to the RIC Meeting Support Team (RICMST) via e-mail to RICMST.Resource@nrc.gov by Wednesday, August 22, 2018.
