ALL AGREEMENT STATES, INDIANA, WEST VIRGINIA ALL NON-AGREEMENT STATES ALL STATE LIAISON OFFICERS ALL FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED AMERICAN INDIAN AND ALASKA NATIVE TRIBES NOTIFICATION OF THE 2025 FALL RADIATION PROTECTION COMPUTER CODE ANALYSIS AND MAINTENANCE PROGRAM (RAMP) USER GROUP (RUG) MEETING (STC25048)

Purpose:

To inform Agreement and Non-Agreement States, State Liaison Officers, and federally recognized Tribes of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) Fall 2025 Radiation Protection Computer Code Analysis and Maintenance Program (RAMP) User Group (RUG) Meeting. The meeting will be held October 20-24, 2025, at NRC Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, and virtually via Microsoft Teams.

Background:

The RUG Meeting provides NRC staff, State regulators, academic institutions, and international stakeholders with technical training and program updates related to NRC-sponsored radiation protection computer codes. This RUG meeting will showcase training and technical exchanges on the V+ (formerly VARSKIN+) code the Radiological Assessment System for Consequence Analysis (RASCAL) code, and the Symbolic Nuclear Analysis Package/ RADionuclide, Transport, Removal, and Dose Estimation (SNAP/RADTRAD) code. The meeting also supports knowledge sharing, development updates, and user feedback for improving these tools used in radiation protection, internal and external dosimetry, emergency response, and environmental assessments. Information on the RAMP Program can be found here: https://ramp.nrc-gateway.gov/ and RUG meeting details can be found here: https://ramp.nrc-gateway.gov/events/october-2025-user-group-meeting.

Discussion: The Fall 2025 RUG meeting is a hybrid meeting and is open and free of charge to representatives from States, Tribes, and other Federal agencies. Participants will have the opportunity to attend a variety of technical sessions and hands-on training modules. We will be offering hands-on training courses on three of our widely used nuclear safety and assessment codes including RASCAL, SNAP/RADTRAD, and V+ (specifically the new Extravasation Dose Module). These sessions are intended for technical professionals in the nuclear field and will cover regulatory applications, real-world case studies, and hands-on exercises aligned with current NRC guidance and best international practices. The RUG meeting agenda (schedule at-a-glance) is attached.

If you are a currently and a RAMP member, and you would like to attend the training, please register through the RUG meeting registration page. If you are not a member, you may apply for membership here or contact the RAMP team at RAMP@nrc.gov for assistance. The registration August 25, 2025
