WORKSHOP ON PROBABILISTIC RISK ASSESSMENT The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will conduct a public workshop on December 2 in Rockville, MD, to discuss its Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) Implementation Plan.
The workshop will be held in the auditorium at Two White Flint North, 11545 Rockville Pike., from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
PRA is a tool used to gain insight into the importance of certain potential safety issues and to identify strengths and weaknesses in nuclear facilities. The Implementation Plan was developed to insure that PRA methods will be used predictably and uniformly.
The workshop is being held to inform the public about plans for the increased use of PRA in NRC regulatory activities.
The agenda will also include industry presentations and questions and comments from participants.
Copies of the plan may be obtained electronically. For more information, contact Thomas Hiltz, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, Mail Stop OWFN 11-F-23, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, D.C., 20555-0001, telephone (301) 504-1105 or via facsimile at (301) 504-2279.
Those interested in attending the workshop, or in making a statement or presentation, should contact Mr. Hiltz by November 28.
Participants are advised to use public transportation since parking at NRC is limited.
