NOTE TO EDITORS:
Attached is a proposed amendment to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Policy Statement on Cooperation with States at Commercial Nuclear Power Plants and Other Nuclear Production or Utilization Facilities.
The proposed amendment would permit State representatives to observe NRC inspections at licensed facilities in adjacent States--States within approximately a 10-mile emergency planning zone of a licensed nuclear facility in another State.
The Commission is asking for public comments on the proposed amendments and is asking that written comments be submitted to the Secretary of the Commission, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, D.C. 20555, Attention:
Docketing and Service Branch by October 25.
