The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), outlining conclusions from both the NRC and the Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, is available on the NRC Web site at:
http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/nuregs/staff/sr1936/. The DEIS is also available via the NRCs electronic document database, ADAMS, by entering accession numbers ML101000012 and ML101000013 in the ADAMS search engine at:
http://adamswebsearch.nrc.gov/dologin.htm. In addition, the Calvert Library Prince Frederick at 850 Costley Way in Prince Frederick, Md., and the Calvert Library Southern Branch at 20 Appeal Lane in Lusby, will have hardbound copies of the DEIS available for public inspection.
The NRC will discuss the report in meetings to be held Tuesday, May 25 from 1 to 4 p.m.
and 7 to10 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Select, 155 Holiday Drive in Solomons, Md. The NRC will transcribe the meeting and post the transcript on the agencys Web site at:
http://www.nrc.gov/reactors/new-reactors/col/calvert-cliffs.html. NRC staff will be available for informal discussions with members of the public during open house sessions from noon to 1 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. No formal comments on the environmental review will be accepted during these sessions.
Unistar is applying for a license to build and operate an Areva EPR at the Calvert Cliffs site, approximately 40 miles south of Annapolis. UniStar submitted the applications environmental portion and associated information on July 13, 2007, and supplemented the report on Dec. 14, 2007. UniStars environmental report also includes siting and administrative information required by NRC regulations.
The EPR is a large pressurized water reactor with a design output of approximately 1,500 MWe. The EPRs designer, Areva, filed an application on Dec. 11, 2007 to certify the design, which is currently under construction at the Olkiluoto site in Finland. The EPR application, minus proprietary or security-related details, is available on the NRC Web site at:

Those wishing to speak may also register at each meeting no later than 12:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.,
respectively. Individual comments could be limited by the time available and the number of people wishing to speak.
NRC staff will also consider written comments on the draft EIS, submitted no later than 75 days after the Environmental Protection Agency publishes its Federal Register notice (expected shortly) regarding the document.
