Parker award-the highest award bestowed on individuals for exemplary efforts in the area of radiation protection-from the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors.

On May 4th, the CRCPD made the award to Ms. Dicus at its 35th annual national conference in Anaheim, California. It recognizes her distinguished career at the state and federal level in the field of radiation protection, her significant contributions to the CRCPD particularly with regard to national radioactive waste issues, and her consistent support of state radiation control personnel and the role they play in resolving radiation protection issues at the state and national levels.

From February 1996, Commissioner Dicus has served two terms at the NRC, including a period of time as Chairman. Her current term expires at the end of June.

Prior to her NRC term, Ms. Dicus, a radiation biologist from Arkansas, served as a Presidential appointee member of the USEC Board of Directors, as director of the Division of Radiation Control and Emergency Management at the Arkansas Department of Health and as former Chairman of the Central Interstate Low-level Radioactive Waste Commission.
