UNSCHEDULED SHUTDOWN GREATER THAN 48 HOURS At 11:15 a.m. on July 21, 1986, the licensee initiated a normal shutdown of Salem Unit I from 100% power to inspect and correct a main generator hydrogen leak into the stator cooling water system. The licensee expects the inspec-tion and repairs to be completed in approximately 7 days.
The Resident Inspector received notification of the unit shutdown by telephone call from the Assistant General Manager of Salem Operations at 11:25 a.m. on July 21, 1986.
The State of New Jersey has been informed.
