' NORTH ANNA POWER STATION,' UNITS N0. 1 AND N0. 2 (NA-1&2) --

NUREG-0737,-ITEM'II.D.1 PERFORMANCE TESTING OF RELIEF AND SAFETY VALVES (TAC-NOS.-44598 AND 44599)

The NRC staff has completed its review of the subject NUREG-0737 item for NA-1&2.

The results of that review are summarized in the enclosed Technical Evaluation Report (TER) prepared by EG8G, Idaho under contract with the NRC staff. The.

staff endorses the findings contained-in the TER, which indicate that you have met the requirements of Item II.D.1 except where deficiencies are noted.

The staff's positions on these matters are well established and have been known to the industry for some time.

In accordance with the Commission's requirements to complete this issue, you should now proceed to resolve the noted deficiencies.

Except for future audits of your evaluations performed in accordance with 10 CFR~

50.59, the NRC staff plans no further review of this matter.

No additional-submittals are required.

Your analyses should use acceptable and recognized methods and should be completed expeditiously.

Implementation of necessary modifications should be completed at the earliest feasible maintenance or refueling outage of sufficient duration.

Please discuss your implementation schedule with the undersigned.

This concludes our efforts on TAC Nos. 44598 and 44599.
