The reference letter transmitted NRC Inspection Report 0500026612012-009, which provided the preliminary results of the Unit 1 turbine-driven auxiliary feedwater pump inspection completed on October 29, 2012, at Point Beach Nuclear Plant (PBNP). The letter identified a preliminary White finding that is being considered for escalated enforcement and provided NextEra Energy Point Beach, LLC (NextEra) the opportunity to either: 1) attend a Regulatory Conference; or 2) submit our position of the finding to the NRC in writing. The letter requested that NextEra contact Mr. Michael Kunowski, NRC Branch Chief of Reactor Projects, by phone and in writing 10 days from the issue date of the referenced letter of NextEra's intentions. In addition, the letter noted that if no response is received within 10 days, the NRC would continue with the significance determination and enforcement decision.
NextEra has elected to accept the finding as characterized and, therefore, is not requesting a predecisional enforcement conference. Mr. Mike Millen, Site Licensing Manager, informed Mr. Kunowski of this decision by phone on December 11,2012.
