Meeting Summary:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted the meeting in accordance with NRC Management Directive 3.5, Attendance at NRC Staff-Sponsored Meetings (ADAMS Accession No. ML21180A271).
TEUSA requested this meeting as an opportunity to explain, in detail, its submittal titled Modeling and Simulation Activities Related to Source Term for IMSR Design Basis Accidents, which was planned to be submitted soon after the meeting was held. TEUSAs representative stated that the purpose of the white paper will be to demonstrate TEUSAs approach on developing a broadly applicable modeling and simulation capability for molten salt reactors (MSRs). It was also mentioned that the methodology and simulations specific to the IMSR400 were not going to be included in the white paper but in a subsequent topical report.
As part of the discussion and overview of what the white paper will entail, TEUSA representatives offered to hold a clarification call with the NRC staff to explain, in detail, the calculations and data used in its calculations. This subsequent clarification was suggested to happen once the NRC staff received and have time to perform an initial assessment of the white paper.
At the end of the meeting, a member of the public asked about the accessibility of the topical report to the members of the public. The NRC staff stated that the non-proprietary version of the report will be posted in NRCs webpage for TEUSA pre-application activities.
No regulatory decisions were made as a result of this meeting.
