30-day report to October 12, 2021 incident reported under 10 CFR 70.50(b)(1) (NRC Event 55517); Framatome Richland Facility; License No. SNM-1227; Docket No. 70-1257 To whom it may concern:
On October 12, 2021, the Framatome Richland facility reported to NRC an unplanned contamination event which required a 24-hour report per 10 CFR 70.50(b)(1).
The initial report was made because access to the contaminated area was restricted for more than 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> by the imposition of additional radiological controls and by prohibiting entry into the area; involved a quantity of material greater than five times the lowest ALI per Appendix B of 10 CFR 20.1001-20.2401; and had access to the area restricted for a reason other than to allow decay of isotopes with a half-life less than 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />.
Attached are two copies of the 30-day follow-up report, submitted to comply with 10 CFR 70.50(c)(2). One copy is a public copy, the other is redacted to be consistent with the information that is publicly available report on the NRC website.
