REQUALIFICATION PROGRAM EVALUATION REPORT N0. 50-282/0LS-87-02 During the weeks of June 15 and 22,1987, the NRC administered requaiification written and operating examinations in accordance with the Operator Licensing Examiner Standards, NUREG-1021, Chapter ES-601. At the exit interview held on June 25, 1987, the preliminary results of these evaluations were discussed.

' Areas examined during this evaluation are described in the Region III Evaluation Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within the scope of this evaluation the requalification training program was found to be i unsatisfactory per the criteria provided in NUREG-1021, Chapter ES-601, l Paragraph F.1.

The unsatisfactory evaluation was based on four operators failing the operating examination and eight operators failing the written examination.

As a result of this evaluation you have made commitments delineated in Confirmatory Action Letter RIII-87-013 dated August 3,1987 and Amendment I dated August 18, 1987. These commitments are intended to bring about improvement in the Prairie Island Requalification Program.

Region III will continue to monitor your efforts in this regard and plans to evaluate the success of these efforts at a future date which coincides with your scheduled program. I In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this  :
