50-266 Unit Name Point Beach Unit 1 Date March 7, 1989 Completed By C. W. Krause Telephone 414/221-2001 Unit 1 operated at approximately 495 MWe net throughout the period with no shutdowns or significant load reductions.
The unit commenced end-of-core life operations on February 18.
On February 22, the plant conducted an Emergency Plan drill in preparation for the upcoming March 15 exercise.
On February 7, the Unit 1 "B" reactor trip breaker failed to close (conservative) during safeguards testing.
Maintenance personnel discovered a blown negative fuse.
Investigations revealed no evidence of further problems.
The fuse was replaced and the breaker was restored to operation later that same day.
Other safety-related maintenance included a gasket replacement to repair an oil leak on auxiliary feed pump P38B inboard bearing sightglass and the replacement of four circuit breakers in 125 V DC distribution panels D11 and D13 in response to IE Bulletin 88-10.

'50-301 Unit Name Point Beach Unit 2 Date March 7, 1989 Completed By C. W. Krause Telephone 414/221-2001 Unit 2 operated at approximately 500 MWe net throughout the period with no shutdowns or significant load reductions.
On February 3, a two percent Unit 2 runback occurred while operators were transferring power supplies to the " white" instrument Bus 2YO3.
During the transfer, the power supply was momentarily lost.
The loss of power initiated a spurious safeguards signal and an' automatic turbine runback.
Prompt operator action restored the instrument bus power supply, and the unit returned to full power operation.
Licensee Event Report 89-001 has been submitted to detail the event.
