Dear Mr. Tiernan:

We-have reviewed that portion of the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company 10 CFR 50.54(p) letter dated February 13, 1986 for the Calvert Cliffs facility which proposes the installation of an intrusion detection system at the intake structure.

Since the installation of this system would eliminate the long term compensatory measures that have existed at this location and the fact that a test' zone has been installed and operated successfully for a period of approximately 20 months, we have determined that the proposed intrusion detection system does , i not reduce the effectiveness of the security system and is therefore acceptable under the provision of 10 CFR 50.54(p).
