SAFETY EVALUATION BY THE OFFICE OF NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION SUPPORTING AMENDMENT NO. 22 TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO. R 56 UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA DOCKET NO. 50-83
1.0 INTRODUCTION
By letter dated August 21,1997, the University of Florida (licensee) requested an amendment to their Technical Specifications (TS) for the University of Florida Training Reactor (UITR). The licensee requested that TS Sections 6.2.5(1) and (2), and Figure 6,1 be revised to reflect the name changu from the " Department of Nuclear Engineering Sciences" to the " Department of Nuclear and Radiological Engineering," Also, the licensee requested that the mailing address in TS 6.6.1 be revised.
2.0 EVALUATION The name change from the " Department of Nuclear Engineering Sciences" to the
" Department of Nuclear and Radiological Engineering" was initiated by the f aculty of the department to better reflect the educational and research activities and goals of the department and was approved by the University of Florida administration; the. change is in name only as the same administrative structure continues in existence. The staff finds the change acceptable.
TS 6.6.1 has been revised to more accurately reflect the mailing address for the annual report and to delete Region ll from the distribution of this report. Regior 'I has been deleted bes:ause the non power reactor inspection program has been transferred from Region 11 to the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. The staff finds this change acceptable.
3.0 ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATION
This amendment involves changes in recordkeeping, reporting or administrative procedures
- or requirements Accordingly, this amendment meets the eligibility criteria for categorical exclusion set forth in 10 CFR 51,22(c)(10). Pursuant to 10 CFR 51.22(b), no environmental impact statement or environmental assessment need be prepared in connection with the issuance of this amendment.
