Dear Ms. Galloway:
t Here is the information we have, in regards to the Model MRC-N-S-W-PuBe-400 neutron source manufactured by Monsanto, that you requested. This source was manufactured in the 1950's and early 1960's, and licensed by the then U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC).
' Production of these sources apparently ceased in 1966. Given the time frame of this source, our files are quite limited. However, I have enclosed what I believe is the original Sealed -
Source and Device registration certificate for this source issued by the AEC (Note: the AEC did not perform extensive reviews nor include detailin the registration document as the NRC does today). In addition, to the registration certificate, I came across a listing of old Monsanto model l
' numbers and an AEC report concerning the safety testing of these sources (also enclosed). I hope this information is sufficient for your needs.
