Dear Mr. Gigliotti:
In your letter to me of February 19, 1988 you expressed concern regarding the pending revision of certain regulatory guidance and its potential impact on current plant modifications. In our February 25, 1988 meeting at NRC head-quarters, we discussed your concerns and the scope of the proposed changes to the regulatory guidance on conduct of entry searches. Based on those dis-cussions, it is clear that there are no technical changes to the two regula-tory guide revisions (Regulatory Guides 5.7 and 5.44) that will impact your procurement of search equipment to meet the near-term comparability measures.
This conclusion is consistent with our earlier statements during meetings in June and July 1987 concerning implementation of the 100% search requirement.
