SUBJECT:

Duke Power Company l

Catawba Nuclear Station - Units 1 and 2 Docket No. 50-413 and 50-414 Response to Generic Letter 96-01 Completion of Requested Actions TAC No.:

M94660, M94661 l

Generic Letter 96-01 (GL 96-01) dated January 10, 1996, l,

requested holders of operating licenses to supply information to the NRC regarding testing of safety related logic circuits. Duke provided its initial response to GL 96-01 in a letter dated April 17, 1996. This initial response defined the scope of the syst ems that were included in the Duke GL 96-01 review program and the schedules for completing the review and submitting future responses to the NRC. Consistent with the required response of GL 96-01 and the schedule communicated in Duke's original response, tae purpose of this letter is to confirm the completion of the l

requested actions of GL 96-01 on Catawba Units 1 and 2.

The review program that was recently completed on Catawba

-Units 1 and 2 confirmed that all portions of the affected logic circuitry were being tested such that the existing station Technical Specifications were fulfilled.

The review program also identified areas where the logic circuitry testing progrom could possibly be enhanced. Duke is pursuing actions to evaluate these possible enhancements, and as. appropriate, will implement these on a timely basis.
