Vogtle Electric Generating Plant-Units 1 and 2, 50-424, 50-425; Pullman Power Products Fabrication Shop Spool Piece Welds Attention: Mr. James P. O'Reilly Gentlemen:
On October 21, 1983, Georgia Power Company notified the NRC of a potentially reportable condition involving visual weld discrepancies on pipe spools furnished by Pullman Power Products. These discrepancies were identified on non-conformance and deviation reports. At the time Georgia Power Company reported this subject, twenty-five spools had been identified as needing additional review and evaluation. Since the report-ing of this potential deficiency, Georgia Power Company and its agents have identified an additional twenty-three (23) spools as needing additional review and evaluation.
I Georgia Power Company has been advised that these evaluations will be completed in February 1984. Georgia Power Company expects to submit either a final report or a schedule for completing the evaluation of this item by March 9, 1984.
