Dear Sir:

In response to the subject item, the BWR Owners' Group (BWROG) performed a study (Reference 1) of alternatives to the present ADS actuation logic, and identified modifications that would eliminate the need for manual actuation to ensure core coverage.

In Reference 2 the Authority formally endorsed this report.

In Reference 3 the NRC stated that two of the seven alternatives presented in the BWROG study are acceptable and requested a schedule for implementing one of the modifications and proposing appropriate Technical Specifications.
