l l

Requested Action 3 I

(

Institute procedures and other measures to provide l

compensatory actions to prevent, delay, or mitigate a loss of I

available NPSH margin under LOCA conditions.

Such measures should be consistent with providing the design basis emergency system functions for core and containment cooling.

1 GGNS Response In addition to the actions taken as described in the j

GGNS response dated April 19, 1994, procedural guidance has been provided governing the control of work-on plant I

equipment and housekeeping to alert plant personnel of the potential hazards which exist when working inside containment with material that could potentially clog the ECCS suction strainers.

Also, procedures have been issued providing a method to backwash the suction strainers under LOCA conditions for the Residual Heat Removal System and for the Low Pressure Core Spray System.
