'Ihis letter constitutes an interim report concerning the subject condition initially reported to the Conmission on May 13, 1983 as a potentially reportable l
deficiency under the requirements of 10CFR50.55(e).
i The subject condition was identified in Section 2.4.2.2 of NUREG-0969,
" Report of the NRC Evaluation Team on the Quality of Construction at the Zinmer Nuclear Power Station" (April, 1983).
The potential deficiencies are; (1) unfilled collar joints, (2) discontin-uous and ud.ssing joint reinforcanents, (3) improper fire seal at top of walls.

'Ihe corrective action which CG&E will take to resolve this condition is expansion of the Quality Confirmation Program (QCP) to include this concern.
A subsequent letter will address the details of the QCP expansion in this area.
Scheduling and conpletion of the corrective action itens and submittal of l
the final report are indeterminate at this time due to continued scoping of the QCP Task. A follow-up report will be submitted to you by September 12, 1983.
