Dear Mr. Keppler:

This letter is in response to Mr. Fiorelli's letter concerning an inspection of activities at the Duane Arnold Energy Center con-ducted on August 29 and 30, 1978.

The following response indicates t.5.e actions which have been or will be taken to correct ths:iten of noncompliance noted in Mr. Fiorelli's letter.

Infraction G:

10 CFR 50, Appendix B, Section XVII, " Quality Assurance Record's" states, in part:

" Sufficient records shall be maintained to I

furnish evidence of activities affecting quality...

The records shall also include closely related data such as qualifications ~of personnel.

Contrary to the above,none of the certification records required by the Duane Arnold Energy Center Training Programs Administrative t

i Manual could be found for mechanical, electrical and instrument and control technicians.

Response

1.

Corrective action taken and the results achieved:

The training records in question are being brought up to date to reflect training completed and qualifications achieved.

2.

Corrective Action to be taken to avoid further noncompliance:

The supervisors responsible for the subject records have been' ~ 31978 w7 a made aware of the importance of maintaining training records 109 0o02.-
