! As a result of, and in preparation for, addressing Generic Letter 92-08,

Byron Station has been in the process of evaluating the station's Safe Shutdown Analysis as it applies to cabling protected by TSI Thermo-Lag 330-1 material. It i

is anticipated that this evaluation,in conjunction with detailed in-plant

, walkdowns, will result in an overall reduction in the quantity of fire barrier

! materials needed in order to be in compliance with 10CFR50, Appendix R. ,

I

During the evaluation process, several discrepancies have been identified
between the Safe Shutdown Analysis and the as-built installation of the Thermo-Lag fire barriers. In general, there are mismatches between what the Safe Shutdown Analysis states will be protected and what is actually protected in the plant. The following is a summary of the discrepancies identified listed by fire zone. Please not that Fire Zone 3.1-1 (U-1 Cable Tunnel)is an addition to the listing of fire zones provided in Byron Station's initial response to NRC Bulletin 92-01, dated July 23,1992.
