Dear Mr. Ahea rne 14 i l

It has come to my attention that af ter almost two yea rs after the accident at Three Mile Island invelving Unit #2 that Unit #1 which was neither damaged or involved in the accident remains shutdcwn. If TNI-l ha s been =ccified and a ny deficencias :orrected, why has it taken so long to bring this vitally needed unit back inte productive use?

Our country is in dire need of more and inexpensive pcwer and this very long wait to bring back a good modified and safe unit seems rather not to make goed judgement en all areas involved in making such a judgenent. Costs to consumrs are escalating every day you wait to OK this unit fer service.

It is important that your agency protects the na:ica through assuring that safety of nuclear energy be high on your priorities but it shedd not be the only priority. Your agency exists also to expedite this needed and inexpensive energy under proper safe policies or we should have done away with the agency a lor 4 time ago and eliminated nuclear systens frca cur energy alternatives ccmpletely. My point is,1st's have a preper balance of judgement in the decisions that have to materialize frca your Commisaien. The censuming people of the USA need as much positive t '-i*g, e14-inntien of red tape and a x _ __. y-q _ _: g u g,p #. u _ _ m

I appreciate your taking the time to read my concerns and they are real ccccerns.

Your Ccruissien, cf which you are the head and therefere the leader, has l

waited far tco long in regard to TE-1.

Please help speed up its resta rt withcut further delay.
