- 8. Unit 2 & 3 common barriers - physically inoperable seals: 92 109 As stated in the referenced report and reflected in the totals therein, an evaluation of a QA inspection report resulted in the addition of 119 Inoperable fire barrier penetration seals to our seal monitoring program.
In the days immediaTely foiiowing the referenced report, further evalua-tion of the same QA inspection data revealed an additional 83 cable tray penetrations of fire barriers not adequately sealed. In each case, however, stationed fire watches were already providing adequate compensa-tory measures in the af fected areas and another prompt notification was not required. These additional seals are reflected in the above totals and on the attached trending plots. Installation of the mastic sealing compound at the refractory blanket to fire barrier joints commenced immediately following declaration of their inoperability. The quantity of mastic compound on hand, however, was insufficient for completing restoration of all seals identified and the delay in obtaining additional quantities of the mastic compound has resulted in the apparent lack of seal restoration on the attached trend plots. Mastic compound replenishments have been received on station and fire blanket seal restoration will be completed within the next report-ing period. The breaching and restoration of fire barrier penetration seals due to ongoing construction efforts and implementation of approved design changes continues to require the monitoring program established upon Iicensing of Unit 2. Our next update of this report wiII be made on August 6, 1982 and will provide fire barrier penetration status through August 5, 1982.
