Dear 11r. Petrick:

REGION III & REGION IV

Subject:

Use of Subsection NB-4436, NC-4436, and ND-4436 in the Winter 1981 Addenda to ASME Section III for SNUPPS Projects, Docket Hos. STri 50-482 (Wolf Creek Unit 1) and STN 50-483 (Callaway Unit 1)

We have completed our review of the SNUPPS request for authorization to use Subsections NB-4436, NC-4436, and ND-4436 in the Winter 1981 Addenda to Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for SNUPPS Projects STN 50-482 (Wolf Creek Unit 1) and STri 50-483 (Callaway Unit 1), as identified in your letter SLilRC 82-12, dated March 9, 1982. The above referenced subsections to the code deals with the installation of attachments to piping systems after performance of the pressure test required by NB/NC/ND-6000 of the code.

The staff finds the use of the subsections identified above to be acceptable on the SNUPPS projects.

Questions may be addressed to the licensing project manager for the SNUPPS designs, Dr. G. E. Edison or J. B. Hopkins.

Sincerely,

!g c.,
