Dear Mr. Parris:

N j

RE: Browns Ferry fluclear Plant, Units 1, 2 and 3 The Consnission is currently sponsoring a program addressing nuclear power plant security during safety emergencies. Site visits to nuclear power stations by our contractor are an important component of this program. As part of this effort, we are asking your voluntary cooperation with our contractor, Union Carbide Corporation, Nuclear Division, and its sub-contractors, NUSAC and Johnson Associates, in arranging a site visit and interviews with appropriate personnel.

The purpose of the visit to your facility would be to conduct interviews and hold discussions relating to security response criteria and procedures during an incident. This is to enable us to gain insight into your views based on your experience and develop an understanding of what changes you have instituted and the reasons for them.

Mr. Roy Cardwell, Union Carbide Corporation / Nuclear Division /0ak Ridge, will be contacting you in the next few days to furnish you with some additional infomation and to arrange a time for the visit at your earliest convenience.

We appreciate your cooperation. The NRC contact available to answer any questions you may have is Kristina Markulis, Safeguards Branch, Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (301-443-5976).
