SUMMARY
OF CALL HELD BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION (NRC) AND GLOBAL NUCLEAR FUELS - AMERICA (GNF-A) HELD JANUARY 29, 2020 REGARDING 8 PERCENT AMENDMENT REQUEST Call Summary :
On January 29, 2020, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a call with Global Nuclear Fuels - America (GNF-A) staff to discuss a near final draft of a request for supplemental information (RSI) regarding the amendment request to increase the enrichment limit in Special Nuclear Materials License (SNM)-
1097, License Condition 6(A) (and corresponding changes in the license application) from 5 to 8 percent. The purpose of the call was to ensure mutual understanding of the information needed in order for the NRC staff to proceed with the formal review. The GNF-A staff provided several recommendations to clarify the RSIs which were incorporated in the RSI letter, see (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession Number ML19350B458). The parties also discussed the need for the NRC staff to hold an operational readiness review as part of the NRCs evaluation. The GNF-A staff agreed in principle.
