Dear Mr. Haynes:
Your August 18, 1981 I.E.Bulletin 81-02, Supplement 1, identified additional Westinghouse Electro-Mechanical Division gate valves that fail to close against differential pressure. Niagara Mohawk was requested to detemine if any of these valves are to be used or maintained as spares for safety-related systems.
In response, no Westinghouse Electro-Mechanical Division valves are being purchased for use or maintained as spares for safety-related systems at Nine Mile Point Unit 2.
Per your request, approximately six (6) manhours were spent in review and preparation of the infomation required by Supplement 1 of this Bulletin.
This is in addition to the twenty-six (26) nahc.ms expended in response to the original Bulletin.
