ORDER TO MODIFY LICENSE This is to inform the Commission that an Order to Modify License is being issued today to John C. Haynes Company. This action is based on the licensee's assets being placed in receivership, the failure of the licensee to make required pay-ments to the Commission, and to conduct a radiation survey and decontamination incident to the conversion of the license to a " storage only" license. The licensee has possession of approximately 25 curies of americium-241 oxide. The Order amends the license to authorize only storage of americium-241 oxide and decontamination of the licensed facilities; and requires the licensee to survey the facility, inventory all licensed material, and submit to the Commission plans for decontamination of the facility and packaging of all licensed material for shipment.
The licensee may, within 25 dayr, of the date of the Order, file a written answer under oath or affirmation and may also request a hearing. However, a written answer or request for a hearing will not stay the immediate effectiveness of this Order.
A news release will be issued five days following mailing of the Order. The State of Ohio will be notified.
