HTRD-50-518/81-16, -519/81-12, -520/81 9 4, -521/81 PBRD-50-553 /81-17, -55D /81-11 The subject deficiencies were initially reported to NRC-0IE, Region II, Incpector D. Quir'< on July 10, 1981 as NCR's HTA NEB 81-04, HTB NEB 81-05, and PBN NEB 81-03 In compliance with paragraph 50.55(e) of 10 CFR Part 50, we are enclosing the first interim report on the subject deficiencies. We consider 10 CFR Part 21 applicable to this nonconformance. TVA anticipates transmitting the next report on or before November 16, 1981.

Description of Deficiency General Electric has failed to qualify Nuclear Stean Suppiv Systen (MSSS) equipment to IEEE Standard 323-1o74 as stated in GESSAR and as required by the STRIDE contracts. Instead, some equipment was qualified to IEEE Standard 323-1971.

Jn erin Progress GE is in the process of evaluating this deficiency to determine the necessary corrective action for the subject nonconforming condition.

TVA expects to supply your office with ac:ditional information by November 16, 1c81.
