Crystal River Unit 3 REPORT DATE: September 4,1981 Occurrence Date: August 7,1981 IDENTIFICATION OF OCCURRENCE:

The meteorological monitoring system 175' wind speed recorder and display for the Control Room was out of tolerance contrary to Tech-nical Specification 3 3 3.4.

CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Mode 1 Power Operation (100%).

DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

At 1415, during perfonnance of SP-158, Meteorological Monitoring Instrunentation Calibration, it was disco';ered that the Control Room l

175' wind speed recorder and display vore out of tolerance.

Mainte-nance was already in progress,and ope;-ability was restored at the time of discovery.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE:

The cause of this event is attributed to instrument drift.

ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

There was no effect upon the health or safety of the general public.

CORRECTIVE i.CTION:

The instrument was recalibrated.

No further corrective action is deemed necessary.

FAILURE DATA:

This is the fourth occurrence for the 175' wind speed indicator,and this is the fiJteenth event reported under this Specification.
